In 2026, Hotel Peninsular in Girona has the privilege of becoming the official hotel for La Setmana, Girona's Independent Film Festival. This cultural event is celebrating its second edition, establishing itself as one of the city's most unique cinematic offerings. The film festival will take place from June 11 to 14.
Independent Cinema at La Setmana
Organized by the Girona Independent Film Association (AGCI), La Setmana serves as a platform for emerging talent and fresh cinematic perspectives in independent filmmaking.
For this second edition, the competition received 56 feature films from various countries, four of which have been selected to compete for the Golden Lioness, the festival's main award.
La Setmana is more than just a film competition. The program also includes various parallel activities designed to bring cinema closer to the public and foster spaces for reflection on audiovisual creation.
Highlights include conversations and meetings with industry professionals. One of the most anticipated events will feature the Catalan-German actor Àlex Brendemühl, who speaks 5 languages and boasts an extensive career.

Excellent location
Well run, very clean city hotel in excellent location very close to all the main sights yet neat to rail links. Our room was large, clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was good and reception staff friendly and attentive (with special thanks to Anastacia). Would definitely stay again.
