Step out of the Peninsular, cross the Pont de Pedra (Stone Bridge in Catalana) and you are already in Girona’s Old Quartier (Barri Vell in Catalan). Medieval streets, the Cathedral, the city walls, the Jewish Quarter… everything you want to visit is just 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from our hotel. No need to plan transport or timetables. Just step outside and immerse yourself in the history of our city.

2,100 years ago the Romans founded Gerunda (the Roman name for Girona) and built a temple to the ancient pagan gods. Today, on that very same spot, stands the Cathedral of Santa Maria, with the widest Gothic nave in the world at almost 23 metres and its unmistakable staircase.

The Jewish Quarter (EL Call Jueu in Catalan) is one of the best preserved in Europe. Narrow streets where the Jewish community lived for 600 years until the expulsion of 1492. Girona’s Jewish community was one of the most influential, with Kabbalah scholars such as Bonastruc ça Porta, whose name is also given to the museum where you can discover what life was like in the city’s Call,the Jewish Quarter.
